What did you do for summer vacation?
Well, for a group of high school girls from Salem OR, it included a road trip down to San Francisco for the annual ‘Nun Run.’ This tradition started several years ago in southern Oregon when a group from Ashland OR headed to California to visit different religious communities.
News of its success traveled up to Salem and the tradition continues. These young women spend a weekend celebrating their vocation to love and more uniquely how to love as women. Over the course of the long weekend the ladies will visit several different religious communities to meet women who have discerned that they are called to love through consecrated religious life.
For the 2010 Nun Run religious orders visited include Contemplative Dominicans, Holy Family Sisters, Poor Clares, Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, as well as visits to local churches and missions.
Please keep this young women in your prayers as they discern how God is calling them to Love.
